Carol Mae Potter, age 90 of Howell, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2024. She was born on June 13, 1934, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Robert and Glennadine (Jackson) Oliver. Carol's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and the joy she found in serving others.

Carol's early life laid a strong foundation for her lifelong dedication to education and community service. After marrying the love of her life, Ivan "Gene" Potter, she embraced her role as a nurturing mother, a devoted wife, and an exemplary educator. For over four decades, Carol shaped the minds and hearts of countless children as an elementary teacher, retiring from Hartland Consolidated Schools, where her passion for teaching was recognized when she was honored as Teacher of the Year. Her commitment to education extended beyond the classroom as she served as a church secretary for The Pilgrim Church in Williams, Minnesota, where she played a pivotal role in inspiring her community to fundraise and support various church initiatives.

Beyond her professional and familial roles, Carol's interests were as warm and inviting as her personality. An accomplished quilt maker and knitter, her handcrafted creations provided not only warmth but also comfort to those she loved. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and many will remember her for the delicious meals she prepared and the fireside cooking that gathered friends and family together. Carol's outgoing nature, her love for social gatherings, and her joyful laugh will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In every aspect of her life, Carol Mae Potter embodied the essence of love, faith, and selflessness. She showed her children unconditional love, patience, and forgiveness. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide her family and those who knew her. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a spirit that will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.

Carol is survived by her loving children, Sally Duffy and Sandy Potter; her cherished grandchild, Ashley (Devin) Geiger; and her adored great-grandchild, Samuel Ivan Geiger. Her memory will also be treasured by her siblings, Bonnie (Gary Sr.) McNeil, Margaret (Richard) Edwards, Martha Marks, Phyllis Kohls, and Leroy (Nina) Oliver, along with many other loving family members who will miss her dearly. Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ivan "Gene" Potter; her parents, Robert Oliver and Glennadine (Jackson) Oliver; and her sister, Georgia Donovan.

A visitation and funeral for Carol was held Friday, September 13, 2024, at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel, 315 N. Michigan Ave, Howell, Michigan.
