Merlin Johnson, 70
April 17, 2025

Merlin Johnson was born to Clifford and Nina Johnson on December 8th, 1954, at Trinity Hospital in Baudette, Minnesota. He attended the Williams School. Merlin was a man of many talents. He learned to play guitar with his brothers at a young age. His love of logging also started early with his brothers. Throughout his life, he logged with his brother-in-law, Ronnie Olson, and with his sons during winters for over 25 years. He also found joy in farming and milking dairy cows, which he started with his wife, Sherry, and their sons. He made a career of carpentry as well, which he began after starting his life with Sherry. Until his last days, Merlin worked on a daily basis alongside his sons.
In 1972, Merlin found his soulmate, Sherry Olson, and they got married in 1975. The two raised four children and were the proud grandparents of nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Their oldest son, Eain, and Sarah Scribner have four children: Brice (Christina Goodwin), Erica, Eli, and Lanae (Devin Otto). Son Jesse (Jenny Storey) have two children, Waylon and Ella. Daughter Crystal (Scott Nelson) have two children, a daughter Samantha (John Moyer) and a son Nickolas (Destiny Flint), who have a daughter, Little Nova. Merlin and Sherry's youngest daughter, Carrie, has a son, Jacob (Elle Nichols).
Merlin was best known for his kind heart, great sense of humor, and his many jokes. We have all learned so many life lessons from this strong, loving, hard-working man. Thank you so much, Dad, for teaching us the importance of family, love, and hard work.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cliff and Nina Johnson, and his brother, Wendell.
He is now in Heaven, so dry your tears.
