September 11, 2025

Janice Charlton (Larson), 86, of Williams, MN, passed away into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, September 7th, 2025, at the LakeWood Care Center in Baudette, MN.

She was born on August 3rd, 1939, to Elmer and Amy Larson in Roseau, MN, the oldest of two children.  Janice grew up on a farm with her sister, Carol, in Malung and graduated from Roseau in 1957 and attended Bemidji State University; she received her degree in Bachelor of Science and pursued her teaching career with some summer classes and started teaching at age 19.  Janice taught 3rd grade for 36 years in Williams and Baudette until she retired in May 1994. Janice met Jack, the love of her life, in Williams, and they were united in marriage on August 19th, 1967.

Janice was very active in the communities, both Williams and Baudette, over the years.  She was involved in the Relay 4 Life (the Can Can Girls, their team), Back Home Days (she coordinated the races at the park), Potato Day (was a judge for the Kiddie Parade), was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Williams (Ladies Aide member, a Eucharistic Minister, she made the banners for the church, helped with the fall dinners, etc.), loved going with the girls to the Warroad Summer Theatre Plays every summer, she enjoyed her oil paintings, watching the birds, her flowers, she loved her cats, Peaches and Viskers, and her dog, Benny, she loved bowling both the girls league (traveled all over) and mixed doubles, cross country skiing with her sister Carol and Dorothy, golfing with Dorothy, photography, baking and cooking and shopping, she really enjoyed hosting all their parties and having coffee with everyone that dropped in, enjoyed all their trips that her and Jack went on (Germany, Normandy, Alaska, Bahamas, Hawaii, Branson, Minot (Norsk Hostfest), Nashville, Medora, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., Florida).

Janice was always smiling and had a hug and kiss for everyone, was always so happy and lived life to the fullest, was so loved, and will be greatly missed.  She was a beloved wife and the greatest Aunt in the world, and a woman of great faith, prayer, and love.

Janice, you truly earned your wings. Fly high, you are finally free.  We will all love and miss you each and every day.  She is looking down on all of us from heaven, and her light will forever shine bright.  We will carry her love with us always.  May she rest in peace.  “Today and always, we celebrate her life.”

God bless her memory and beautiful soul, you’ll be in our hearts forever.  Left to cherish Janice’s memory is her loving husband of 58 years, Jack, her sister Carol.  Many nieces and nephews and extended family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Amy Larson.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baudette, MN. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Williams, MN.
