Obituary for Treva Lu Bergan, age, 78

Treva Lu Bergan was born April 18, 1947, to Merl and Margaret (Hazelton) Hain in Kenmare, North Dakota. Treva was reared on the family farm near Sherwood, North Dakota. She was educated in Sherwood, graduating from Sherwood High School in 1965. She continued her education at North Dakota State University-Bottineau Branch graduating in 1967. Following her graduation from Bottineau, she was employed by the Rolla Public Schools and Grand Forks Public School System in North Dakota. 

Treva married Randall (Randy) Glen Bergan on June 19, 1971, in the Methodist Church in Sherwood, North Dakota. They shared a life of love and commitment. To this union, twins were born, Gordon and Kendra. Randy and Treva farmed till their retirement in 2001. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2021. 

Treva enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, baking, watching cooking shows on the Food Network and helping her husband on the family farm. She canned and froze fruits and vegetables from her garden. Treva was active in her children's school activities as room mother, 4-H leader, and following her children's music concerts and sports activities. Treva was active in the Pilgrim Congregation Church in Williams, Minnesota serving as deaconess and clerk. She wrote a weekly column for the 

Northern Light Region in the early years of her marriage. Treva was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. In later years, Treva was employed as an office assistant/receptionist/proofreader for The Northern Light newspaper in Williams, Minnesota, and The Warroad Pioneer newspaper in Warroad, Minnesota. 

Treva passed away on January 23, 2026, at the Warroad Senior Living Center in Warroad, Minnesota. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Randall; son Gordon and wife Dessa (Brunette) Bergan of Williams, Minnesota; daughter Kendra Bergan of Warroad, Minnesota; sister Melany Klotz of Yuma, Arizona; grandchildren Samuel and Joella Bergan; sister-in-law Rita Bloechel; and nieces Colleen Devine, Jane Devine and nephew 

Kelly Devine. She is preceded in death by her parents Merl and Margaret Hain and brothers-in-law Dr. Frank Klotz and James Bloechel.

A Funeral Service for Treva L. Bergan will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11:00AM at the First Congregational Church in Baudette, MN. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 5-7PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Baudette, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
