Obituary for Grace Theowen Thortsen, 95
Theowen was born on December 2, 1931, in Roseau, Minnesota, to Alfred and Rose Stoskopf. She was raised in Warroad and graduated from Warroad High School.Family was the center of Theowen’s life and her greatest accomplishment. She deeply loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and treasured every family gathering. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events whenever possible.Theowen had many hobbies and interests that brought her joy throughout her life. She was a competitive bowler, enjoyed BINGO and card playing, gardening, CASINO TRIPS, painting ceramics with meticulous care, and watching her favorite westerns and game shows. She was also well known for her delicious caramel rolls, especially appreciated by the hunters each season.She was a faithful member of the Catholic Church where she raised her children and was a proud member of the Roseau Eagles Auxiliary #3882 for 45 years.Theowen is survived by her daughter, Barbara Delorme (Lee); daughter, Nancy Peterson; son, Dale Thortsen (Krisann); 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Thortsen; daughter, Connie Cook; grandson, Wade Peterson; great-grandson JJ Ferguson; her parents, Alfred and Rose Stoskopf; and siblings Harriet Dagg, Bill Stoskopf, Lawrence Martin, Overby Stoskopf, Rosalee Styler, Don Stoskopf, and Joan Amerud.Her love for family, warm heart, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.A memorial service for Theowen Thortsen will be held at the Warroad Senior Living Center Friday, May 29, 2026 at 10:30AM. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Warroad Senior Living Center.
